The Yachting Life On the Costa Del Sol

The Yachting Life On the Costa Del Sol

The Costa del Sol is a wonderful place to own a boat, with miles and miles of coastline and some excellent marinas. Whether it’s a power boat, or a yacht, it’s a wonderful way to explore the area and take advantage of our proximity to Africa to visit a new continent.
There are a number of lovely marinas to dock your boat, or to visit. There are ten in total, between Malaga and Sotogrande and hopping from one to other is a great way to get to know the different areas. Even if you don’t own a boat, marina living is fantastic! There are some excellent properties close to the marinas, which offer you the setting and the feeling of yachting life, without the expense of boat ownership!

Whichever camp you fall into, here are five of our favourite marinas and why we think they are great places to visit, moor your boat, or own a property.
Cabopino
Located close to Calahonda and Elviria with plenty of amenities nearby, Cabopino is a great place to live. Cabopino marina is as cute as a button, with 169 births and a really nice atmosphere. It is lined with great restaurants and just around the corner is a beautiful bay with one of the best beaches on the Costa del Sol. Nearby is a great golf course too, so this is a great lifestyle choice. There are a number of developments with apartments around the marina itself, and larger properties slightly back from the sea, but within easy reach of the marina. Riva Residences is a stunning new development of six semi-detached villas, just a short walk from Cabopino marina and its beautiful beach. This 4 bedroom Cabopino villa is just stunning! It is south-facing, with a fabulous contemporary design which maximises light and space, an amazing rooftop solarium which can be reached by your own lift, a private garden, underground parking and amazing sea views!

Marbella
Marbella is blessed with two ports, the fishing marina and the Puerto Deportivo, or leisure port. This marina is called the Puerto Virgin del Carmen and has 377 births. It is centrally located, a short walk down from the Old Town and main shopping street, so it’s an excellent choice to enjoy the Marbella lifestyle. It is lined with bars and nightclubs which stay open late and it has a real party atmosphere. There are also two great playgrounds for the kids and a weekly artisan market. If you’d like to sail into this port, but don’t have your own boat, why not take the catamaran ferry from Puerto Banus? It’s a great way to arrive! If you love the port, then we have the perfect property for you! This three bedroom Marbella apartment has direct access down to Marbella Port and the beach and is perfectly located to make the most of all the amazing bars, restaurants and shops in Marbella. The apartment is southwest facing, with three good bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large open plan living and dining area leading to a cute terrace with sea views. The community offers lovely gardens, a pool and parking and the location really can’t be beaten.

Puerto Banus
The most famous and luxurious port on the Costa del Sol has to be Puerto Banus. A favourite with superyachts for its size, prestige and designer shopping, Puerto Banus has 915 births. It offers the ultimate in luxury living, both on and off the water, with fantastic food, amazing shopping and great nightlife. We have an amazing Puerto Banus apartment for sale, which is right on the front line of Puerto Banus. Right in the heart of the action, you couldn’t hope for a better location and this south facing, modern apartment boasts a lovely open plan living space, a terrace, fitted kitchen, one bedroom and one bathroom, which could become the perfect party pad.

Estepona
Estepona is the next marina you will come to as you head towards Gibraltar and this sweet marina boasts some excellent restaurants, bars and cafes, and very good facilities for boats docking there. It has a Sunday market, a sailing school and is surrounded by excellent properties. This 3 bedroom Estepona Townhouse overlooks the marina and has wonderful sea views. It is south facing, modern and beautifully decorated and you can be out by the boats in just a few strides.

Sotogrande
Sotogrande marina has 1,382 births, a modern dockyard, sailing school and lots of amenities for sailors. The very pretty port has shops, restaurants and cafes clustered around little squares, and a regular market. There are many modern apartments around the marina, as well as beautiful villas close to the world leading golf courses.
